Success through expansion

In 1966 the company’s founders, Herma and Johann Neumüller, laid the foundation for a successful business development.

Alte MannschaftIn 1975 it was decided to start trading with reusable iron and in 1983 Harald Neumüller joined the company.
Alte MannschaftIn 1984 the first property was purchased, with an area of 10,000 m2, and the first warehouse was built at the current location in the Mauthausen industrial area. After additional property acquisition and construction the company currently has five roofed warehouses with an area of 7,000 m2 and grounds with a total area of 17,500 m2.

In 1985 Mag. Johann Neumüller joined the company and in 1989 the legal form was changed to a limited liability company. In 1994 Mag. Johann Neumüller and Harald Neumüller took over the management of the family business.

Constant expansions, also in the scrap sector, and problems with loading of scrap (first on trucks and then onto train cars at the Mauthausen railway station) made it necessary to re-locate the scrap trade.
Alte MannschaftA location was found in the Enns harbor and the company acquired its first property in 1998. In 1999, operations started at the scrap yard in Enns harbor with a private siding track.

This new location made it possible to increase the annual amount of scrap and non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum, copper and stainless steel.
The next major expansion took place in 2005. A harbor basin was rented in the Enns harbor in order to be able to obtain steel by ship, as well. After six months of test runs it was decided to acquire property with an area of ca. 22,000 m2..

A warehouse with a roofed area of 8,000 m2 was built in 2006 within a period of six months at a total investment of ca. 6 million euros.

Plans for expansion of the company in the Enns harbor began in 2008, and construction was started in 2009. In the new headquarters of Johann Neumüller LLC in the Enns harbor, steel and scrap can be stored and dealt over an area of 80,000 m2 (Of this area, ca. 25,000 m2 are under a roofed area of which 15,000 m2 are heated). Today, up to 200,000 tons of steel and scrap are handled by rail, truck, and ship. Compare this to 1999, when the figures stood at 20,000 tons!

Schiffsverladung - jpgIn total, the company currently owns 24 trucks and 8 rehandling excavators. In addition, the company owns a rail line (ca. 1000 m) and a wharf (ca. 300m) in order to facilitate ship transport on the Rhine-Main-Danube canals as well as handling of Danube ships in Ukraine (for further transport over the Black Sea to Asia).
